In this video here, Chris Sarra discusses 14 strategies to help with student attendance in remote Aboriginal communities:

- Have students develop ownership of their learning where they become involved in goal setting and are able to see their improvements.
- Walking school bus.
- School cash system that allows children to buy their own rewards.
- Have good relationships with the community, for example, having the shop unavailable to children who are not at school during school hours.
- Reward the parents and include them within the classroom.
- Nurture good relationships, for example, pick individual staff members to mentor particular students even if it's just having a meet and greet each morning to see how they are feeling that day.
- Employ Aboriginal members of the community who are connected to families. This will help understand the reasons behind disengagement, the challenges that are faced and understanding what needs to change and implementing these strategies.
- Ensure all teachers have professional integrity to question themselves and what they might be doing that could potentially be causing disengagement.
- Potentially have a service guarantee that states all students who have 90% or more attendance will be on the benchmark of the rest of the country's education.
- Have personalised learning plans.
